A row over the Chartered Insurance Institute's (CII) R01 study material has reignited after an aspiring financial adviser questioned its relevance.
Matthew Bird, a new entrant to the industry, said he was tested on several matters which were not part of the course material he studied. "The audio and online revision aides I found to be only marginally relevant to the exam content at best," said Bird in a letter to the CII. "Aviva offered better information on their website." Bird, who has a degree in economics and three A Levels, said the exams tested "phrases and situations" which might only be known by practicising advisers.
