Large firms to use NEST as pension scheme supplement

A fifth of large employers plan to use the National Employment Savings Trust to complement existing pension schemes, research reveals.

A NEST survey of employers primarily with staging dates in the first six to nine months of auto-enrolment shows that 21% in the private and not-for-profit sectors are ‘quite likely' or ‘very likely' to use NEST for some groups of workers, while 16% are undecided. The majority of these large employers said they would use NEST alongside another scheme. The findings come after it was revealed that insurers are turning down companies that want to expand existing schemes for their entire workforce.
