Martin Lewis: scrap the word 'pensions'

MoneySavingExpert founder Martin Lewis has called for the industry to scrap the word 'pensions', claiming its brand is tainted.

Speaking at the National Association of Pension Funds conference, Lewis said: "Pensions is a tarnished brand and we have to question whether we should us it anymore. Should the pensions industry exist? "One of the great things about the financial crisis is people are more debt-averse and think about long-term savings, but they do not save because rates are so low and they do not trust the pensions industry.
