The National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) will implement a fully-automated process allowing self-employed people to join the scheme in January.
Speaking at the National Association of Pension Funds conference, NEST chief executive Tim Jones announced that the service would be improved for the self-employed from next year. It is already possible for self-employed people to join NEST and there are 15 such members in the scheme already.
