Labour has called for the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to investigate pension fund charges as part of its campaign for transparency.
Speaking at the National Association of Pension Funds conference, shadow pensions minister Gregg McClymont said an investigation would "inevitably result in the full disclosure of costs and charges". The comments come as the latest instalment in a reinvigorated row over charges, with Labour calling for a 1% charge cap and pensions minister Steve Webb vowing to tackle the insurance industry's legacy scheme charging and to legislate against unfair charges if the industry fails to improve disclosure.
