The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will review the Pension Protection Fund (PPF)compensation cap over fears long-serving workers are receiving "penal" treatment.
Pensions minister Steve Webb revealed the government could increase the cap for long-term workers during a parliamentary debate on the Visteon pension scheme earlier this week. Webb said: "I have asked my officials to look at options for reforming the PPF cap, and one possibility is for the cap to vary with length of service. "For example, there would be a floor cap and then one that increased according to how long the person had been in the scheme. That that would be a fairer system, and we are evaluating how it would work in practice." Members who have not yet reached normal pens...
