Pensions minister Steve Webb has said the abolition of contracting out, brought forward to 2016, does not mean defined ambition (DA) proposals must be finalised earlier.
This week, Chancellor George Osborne announced the single-tier reforms would be brought forward a year to 2016, escalating the abolition of contracting out. It prompted calls from the industry for concrete guidance on DA, in order to prevent defined benefit sponsors pushing all members into defined contribution schemes.
