JLT Employee Benefits (JLTEB) has suspended consultancy charging on corporate schemes until the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) completes its investigation of the practice.
Last year the DWP began investigating consultancy charging, in which the cost of advising employers and workers is deducted from members' pots. It is considering banning or restricting the practice. Employee benefit consultants are split on whether consultancy charging is good value for members, with some firms claiming there is a place for the method, and others refusing to use it.
