Origen has sold its small self-administered scheme (SSAS) business to pension provider and consultant Barnett Waddingham.
The news follows the sale of Origen's self-invested personal pension (SIPP) business to Suffolk Life. Origen, which was one of the first firms in the UK to launch a specialist self-administered pensions service, said a strategic review had found it no longer had the scale to operate in the market. It said due to the increasingly complex needs of clients, as well as a desire to focus on providing advice and consulting services it decided to leave the administration/trustee-based market.
