Union brands Aegon sales cut 'devastating'

The trade union which represents Aegon staff has branded the life company's move to cut 160 roles as "devastating".

Yesterday Aegon announced that it would be cutting 160 sales and support roles with immediate effect and will be closing all six regional sales centres in the next six months. Commenting on the news, Aegis general secretary Brian Linn said: "This is devastating news for our sales community. "While we understand the business, economic, technological and regulatory drivers for change, we are focusing on how we can best support our members at this difficult time.
