In light of the recent furore around BBC on-air stars' salaries, Professional Adviser has gathered the wages of industry- and public-funded bodies' executives in 2016/17 to see how they compare...

The two highest earners in the Financial Conduct Authority made the news earlier in July when it was revealed chief executive Andrew Bailey and competition boss Christopher Woolard took home more than £400,000 each last year.  Both men earned more than £50,000 in bonuses, with Bailey earning a total salary of £449,000 and Woolard a competitive £409,000. However, both salaries pale in comparison to the £650,000 ex-chancellor George Osborne reportedly earns for four days work per month for his advisory role at Blackrock, as well as Gary Lineker's £1.75m for presenting the BBC's flagship...
