Advisers can expect scrutiny from FCA on Consumer Duty

‘The 31st July milestone is the beginning, not the end’

The Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) Consumer Duty  is the “beginning, not the end” for financial advisers, according to Aegon pensions director Steven Cameron.

He said the FCA's regulation, which is set to be implemented from 31 July, has led to "great collaboration" between advisers and providers. "We can all expect continued scrutiny from the FCA which will be collecting data to review firms' delivery," Cameron said. Adviser firms can expect an ongoing focus in areas such as the value of advisory services, the identification of target markets, clarity of communication and tailored support for customers with characteristics of vulnerability, he said.
