Prevailing retirement planning advice ‘underscores the role of investing’

The concept of investing needs shifting away from the perception of being a “high-stakes gamble” to a strategic necessity, deVere Group chief executive Nigel Green says.

The comments come on the back of the firm's findings that almost two thirds (65%) of the new clients it took on last year were not saving enough for retirement. "History teaches us that well-managed investment portfolios have outperformed the returns offered by traditional savings vehicles," he added. "This outperformance is crucial for building a robust financial foundation, especially given the longer life expectancies, the increased costs associated with healthcare and other necessities in retirement, and reducing government financial support."
