Divorce advice is 'niche' but needs more accredited IFAs

Clients can be like ‘rabbit in the headlights’ as divorce settlement nears

Advising clients going through a divorce is a niche area but there is “plenty of work to go around” and more IFAs should look to gain accreditation to garner family lawyer referrals, a specialist has said.

Speaking during a Personal Finance Society (PFS) webinar Financial planning on divorce and separation, Beeswax Wealth Management managing director Steve Hennessy explained he works with divorcing clients to ensure good outcomes and fair financial settlements. The Chartered financial planner said about 90% of his work comes from family lawyer referrals. Hennessy is also involved with the Resolution organisation - a community of family justice professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way.
