Increased workload expected by FOS as it estimates 210,000 cases

Ombudsman has committed to resolve 17% more cases in the year ahead

The Financial Ombudsman (FOS) is estimating that it will receive 210,000 new cases in 2024/25.

The FOS has today (4 April) published its final plans and budget for the upcoming financial year. In December last year, the ombudsman estimated it would receive around 181,300 new cases in 2024/25. However, that figure has now been elevated to 210,000. The predicted rise is a result of several factors including everyday financial concerns such as unaffordable lending, credit card complaints and fraud and scams, the FOS noted.
