Websites are one way advisory firms can demystify financial services for their clients, but who's doing it best? Here Nicola Brittain counts down the ten best adviser websites...
6 Fish Financial
www.fishfin.co.uk
Total score: 42 points
With a name like Fish Financial, the company had to go for it a bit with the website and, well, it has. This is a terrific-looking site (and the FCA'll like it too given that it thinks adviser communications with clients should be "more colourful").
Do you feature? We count down the ten best adviser websites
This fun and quirky site features the strapline ‘financial independence starts here'. A clean design and unusual photos make the brand memorable. That the firm's activity on Twitter is made central gives it a contemporary feel. A library provides the latest investment thinking and money made clear guides.
Right, we're into the top five now...
5 Wingate Financial Planning
www.wingatefp.com
Total score: 44 points
Designer Gareth Thompson, from Codepotato, (you must follow this chap on Twitter) gave Wingate FP's site a makeover and it's reaped dividends.
We really liked the blogs section. Wingate isn't afraid to report on the financial services industry's less-than-TCF side and, though this could backfire, it is more likely to help customers built trust (and even a rapport) with the business.
The home page features recent articles and a 'find by topic' option, while recent Tweets make it seem modern. Four contact buttons on the home page - 'come and chat with us', ‘email us', ‘talk to us' and ‘keep up to date' - also give the company an approachable feel.
4 Informed Choice
www.icl-ifa.co.uk
Total score: 45 points
Another site designed by Codepotato, the Informed Choice site is clean and clear with a strong brand message and an extremely navigable site. The tabs are simple: home, about, services, wealth management, resources and contact. Just three colours, blues and greys, are used throughout. Content includes blogs, a briefing note and events. The ‘contact us' section features three buttons linking to Twitter, 'enquiries' and a ‘receive our emails' section.
