Old Mutual Wealth's (OMW) Jeremy Charles and Carlton Hood are to step down from their respective roles as chief operating officer and customer director, Professional Adviser can reveal.

Charles, who has been at the wealth manager since July 2012, is taking early retirement in 2016 as he had planned to do, the company said.

He was responsible for OMW's day to day operational and business management across UK, European and international, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Prior to joining OMW he was chief operating officer at Thames River Capital, which became F&C, for six years.

Charles will be replaced by Paul Penney, who is currently chief information officer at OMW.

Hood (pictured), who was OMW's customer director for two years, is leaving his role because an internal restructuring means it no longer exits, OMW said.

He is considering other possible opportunities within the wider Old Mutual Group, OMW said.

Hood's customer direct position was an executive committee role responsible for product, proposition, brand, marketing, digital and business strategy for the UK and cross-border business of Old Mutual plc, according to Hood's LinkedIn profile.

Prior to that, for a year Hood was group customer director at OMW, responsible for "business transformation to make the organisation more customer-centric".

Hood had also spent time as OMW's strategic marketing director, and a TV presenter for Channel 4, and for three years he was chief executive of financial services price comparison site Confused.com.

In a statement OMW said: "When joining our organisation in 2012, Jeremy Charles was clear that his intention was to retire in 2016 and we have planned accordingly.

"Jeremy will be retiring in the first half of this year and will relinquish his role as chief operating officer with immediate effect, handing over as planned to chief information officer Paul Penney.

"The functions that fall under Carlton Hood's areas, including marketing and product, have moved under other areas of the business and therefore the role of customer director no longer exists.

"Carlton Hood is exploring other opportunities inside the wider Old Mutual Group."
